[Soul] Post your Soul playlists in here!

Hey guys,

I wanted to share some of my Soul playlists with you and invite you to add yours too.

So what is Soul music? Here's a good description i found on about.com:

Soul music is a combination of R&B and gospel and began in the late 1950s in the United States. Soul diffirentiates from R&B due to its greater emphasis on vocalists and its merging of religious and secular themes.

The 1950s recordings of Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and James Brown are commonly considered the beginnings of soul music.

I would like to keep this thread Soul only. I have 2 playlists whihc i really like but one is Soul and Blues, the other is Soul and Jazz. I will not post those here, but maybe in another thread.

Here are mine and i'm looking forward to yours. Enjoy!

@user-removed Nice selection in the Midnight Soul playlist. But don't put 5 tracks by the same artist in it. Try to select 1 or max 2 of the best songs by an artist. All of the songs are not new to me. And maybe it's better to select a certain time period. Now it's a mix of 70s, 80s and 90s soul. Anyway, it's a nice beginner's soul playlist 🙂

Hello Music lovers!! 😃

I thought I should share my Soul-playlist with songs mostly from the seventies and eighties. It's a work in progress but I decided to go old school. Soon I'll make a new fresh modern take and hopefully be able to grab lots of inspiration from this and similar threads.

Here is another soul playlist........... enjoy

@McLashlan Hey thanks for sharing! Some feedback about the playlist: i think there are 1000's of soul / disco playlists like this on Spotify, if you search for soul. All the well known songs, the hits are in there. I don't see any originality in here, except for the last song by Pretty lights. Don't know why it's in here, its hiphop/triphop. Maybe it was a slip of the mouse 😉

Anyway, i checked your other playlists. I like the title of the list: 'where we going we don't need roads'. It's metaphorical i think? Music without roads/boundaries. It's a promising project 🙂 Goodluck with it.

hehe hey thanks Jazz for the feedback. You're right - the playlist is just my favourite soul and many of them if not all is well known. But they are very good non the less. I'll return with a not so obvious playlist and see what you Think. Once again, thanks for the comment!! "Where we're going we don't need roads" is such a great line from my favourite Movie of all time "Back to the future". If you like indie pop/rock i bet you can find a lot of stuff if you check back at me anytime soon. Soul is just a side Project 😄

Have a nice day!
/peter

I'm not much into indie-pop/rock. More into jazz & Soul, but i will keep an out on your playlists and profile.

Hey guys,

I created a new playlist today, Falsetto Soul ; Sweet Soul Moods. It's about Soul singers who can sing beyond the normal range. It includes greats from mostly the 70s like Curtis Mayfield, Smokey Robinson and The Stylistics among others:

Great work! This is one of my favorite soul playlists. I start bulding it in 2013 and reshaping it ever since. Hope you like it 🙂

What about this playlist? Superfly: A Story About Blaxploitation & Cosmic Funk

Explore the distinctive sound of 70s blaxploitation*. From the souls of Curtis Mayfield, The O'Jays, Black Rock, Isaac Hayes and lots more. Updated, improved and re-arranged since 2013. Dig deeper.

*Blaxploitation or blacksploitation is an ethnic subgenre of the exploitation film. It emerged in the United States in the early 1970s. Blaxploitation films were originally made specifically for an urban black audience, but the genre's audience appeal soon broadened across racial and ethnic lines. (source: wikipedia, read more...)
