That's the kind of question that hits me as well every now and then. : )

I would like to know.. what kind of music are you into? What was the most recent new finding that you really liked?

Based on that I would be able to give more matching recommendations.

Aside of that, I always recommend using the everynoise.com site and the playlists it generates for each genre.
Click on the genre name, it plays a short snippet of a sample. Click on the little >> arrows, it will take you to a cloud of artists that make music fitting the genre.

(artists can have multiple genres, too)
