Let's say you discover a "new" artist who has been around for a while in this world. You go to his artist profile in your Spotify client and just hit play because you want to hear more from him to decide whether you really like him. And what do you get?
You get "Album Commentary" albums (an album where the artist just comments each track of a release. Sometimes those commentary tracks are even within the release).
You get every live album, every release the artist has been on (movie soundtracks, collabs, etc), Spotify Session and iTunes Festival albums, EPs which contain 5 "different" remixes of just one song and even those rare demo tapes where an alternative/early version of this and that song back from 1996 in according quality is present.
While this selection might be is awesome for a fan of the artist, it is somewhat cumbersome to someone who wants to get to know the artist.
Therefore, give us ability to filter for release types. There should also be an option whether or not the set filter should work within a release (filtering out all live tracks on a studio album for example).
The last composed filter should be remembered and automatically applied once you visit another artist profile because I can imagine that ones preferences on that do not differ that much from artist to artist. There should also be a prominent display of how many releases/tracks are currently not played because of the filter.
Filter types I can imagine:
Studio (regular LP)
Appears on (for movie soundtracks etc.)
Also, please add the ability to filter for text via Strg+F. And yes, this should also work in combination with the type-filter.
