I tend to jump on to YouTube and watch concerts and live recordings of artists doing their thing. It's a great way to connect with artists and see them in unscripted and new/creative ways. It is a completely different experience to listening to an album or single.
As a Premium subscriber I would love to be able to use the Spotify app to stream live concerts and other gigs, and listen to the recording after the event. Spotify could easily become an incredible platform for those not able to attend concerts - and get exposure to live versions of their favourite musicians. It could also be used to promote performances to local audiences.
I realise that artists get significant revenue from concerts, so there would need to be some pay-off for them in return for potentially taking away live audiences. If it can be made attractive for both sides this could be a game changer. I would pay extra for this as an add-on to my subscription, e.g. +$1 per month. Multiply that by Spotfiy's existing subscriber base and that could be compelling.
