Right now last.fm is the only place I can send my listening data ("scrobble"). I'd like to be able to enter different websites to send this data to instead if I so choose.
Last.fm's quality and features has gone downhill in the past several years and I want my music listening data to go to a site I expect to use in the future.
Several alternatives currently include GNU FM (which anyone can host on their own server), libre.fm (powered by GNU FM), and Jamendo. All of these use the same Scrobbling 2.0 protocol as last.fm so implementing this change in spotify shouldn't be difficult--it would just require letting us choose a URL to send our music data.
There are current workarounds such as modifying your host file, but this won't work with spotify scrobbling for me directly from the spotify servers (which is able to scrobble my spotify listens no matter what device I listen on).
Thanks for your time and your great product!
