[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

I just had an update and now I don't have a widget option for Spotify. Will that be coming back??

Ive had a really great idea actually, re: the widget. Im going to find a provider who offers me one! Thank u for the memories spotify and brilliant playlists, but this takes the jam right outta my doughnut, so peace out and see ya

I just only had the widget disapear today on my android phone and I am extremely disapointed. I hardly ever opened up the app unless I changed or searched for a new playlist. If I am wanting to play a song now, I have to open up the app and that is going to get very frustrating very quickly. Why did Spotify remove this feature. It was the one main item on my home screen and now it has left a big gap there and in my heart... Bring it back Spotify.

The widget is a feature I used constantly. It's removal is sufficient enough change for me to consider a change also.......to another streaming service. I'll give Spotify a week, and if not back......CYA later!

@Err404drg Well, what do you know, I just checked, and so do Amazon and Deezer! Looks like we've all got plenty of options that aren't Spotify. 🙂

Also, add it to the long and ever-growing list of basic features Spotify is missing or has cut for absolutely no good reason.

The Android home screen widget was removed last week - and there is an official announcement about this on the Community here.

Notification widget really doesn't substitute the home screen widget, since I can't start the playback from it as it isn't there when spotify isn't active...
