Better sequencing for radio stations

The radio stations would sound better if there was some thought put into the sequencing of the songs. When I start a station from a playlist, the station will jump all over the map playing different genres. It doesn't sound great.

I don't know what the correct solution is exactly, but a couple of ideas could be:

1. Pick a track from the playlist, and force the next few songs on the station to be similar to that track (using whatever EchoNest gives you for similar tracks). Repeat for the next block of songs.

2. Figure out up front what the next 20 songs will be on the station (which obviously is impossible to be perfect, since the user can adjust the station as he goes) and sequence those songs in some way.
