[Music] Block / Hide / Blacklist Tracks or Artists

The Star feature should be complemented with a way to mark tracks as excluded. Those tracks would then be skipped even when included in the current playlist.
This way the enjoyment of a good album wouldn't be disrupted by tracks you don't like, while the album in its entirety can still be kept in the playlist.
The Anti-star can easily be implemented as a flipside to the regular star as they are mutually exclusive. Click the star once, the track becomes a favorite. Click again, the star icon changes to the anti-star and click a third time and either flag is gone.

A no-brainer to me.

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Community Idea Exchange.
We're marking this idea as 'Implemented'.

The option 'Don't play this artist' is now available on iOS and Android.

You can also find more info on hiding individual tracks from playlists or albums here.

If we have any information about this on other platforms in the future, we'll report back!

I want this feature more than I want anything else on Spotify.

I was going to post my own thread but then this one came up instead, and it would be PERFECT!

For my own needs, this would be incredibly helpful as a lot of the music I like tends to bump up against Christian rock bands in the "things that you might like" algorithms. Unfortunately, while I have no problem with any particular religion or faith, I do have personal reasons from my past why I really, REALLY do not like hearing songs that push Christianity into my face. There are also several Christian rock bands that have neutral songs that I very much enjoy (such as Skillet), but I can't listen to them on Spotify without triggering a bunch of Christian songs that then show up in my various mixes & feeds.

Yeah, as many other users, they're labels I never listen like Justine Biebre or Lana Del Ray (or smth). I do not get them in recommendations often, in fact I don't remember when the last time I've seen JB on my Spotify, but they're others I would like to exclude forever. Please add blacklists.

Not having this feature will hinder my willingness to continue paying for long term.

Let's get this feature, it's not hard to make!

I think it's like someone else mentioned. Must come down to money...

@timcph If that's the case they are not thinking straight... we (the users) generate the biggest revenue to spotify, by pissing us of and playing **bleep** music we can't stand on our years only means we will move on to other services... then it doesn't matter how much justin briber's record label pays them to play this **bleep** to us, because if there isn't anyone listening... they are not making money....

on the other hand, Spotify just announced that there are 60 million paid subscribers, which makes us (in this forum) 1/10th of fk all, so I think it's more of a case of we don't give a fk about building this feature and if you leave Spotify it's not going to make a difference,

think about it, how many people are actually asking for this feature 1000? 2000? Out of 60 million... ????

I will add my 2 cents. I have an artist that I listen to that has...

A Holiday Album, that I don't want to hear other than during the holidays..

2 "Track by Track" albums that is commentary about the songs that I don't want to hear anymore.

40 live albums

Recent album which is in conjuntion with another group which I don't like or want to hear.

For the most part when I listen to this artist, I am constantly clicking next song...

A needed feature.

I really really don't want to hear Justin Bieber or any Nicki Minaj style modern day singers that your platform and all media outlets are pushing down our throats. No I won't "like it" or it won't "grow on me".

If I am paying for your service, then please give me the option to remove/block/ignore/skip artists that I don't want to listen.

Is spotify being controlled by Illimunati or something god dammit I don't want to hear or be forced to hear "popular artists". Why do you force me? Its 115 pages already. Implement it.

An atrocious song was included in one of my Discover Weekly playlists. I'd like a way to accomplish the following: block the song and/or artist so they are excluded from future recommendations, and in doing so, provide "negative" feedback that can be utilized (hopefully) by your recommendation algorithms. This is something Pandora has had for years. I'm surprised that this thread is 5 years old and a comparable feature either hasn't been introduced or isn't known to users.
