[Desktop] Global HotKeys for Pause/Play, Skip, etc.

It would be nice to have an Global Hotkey so you can pause/play your music while browsing and not switching between screens. Or when you are gaming and you want another song but you don't want to alt tab and stay idle, a (customizable?)  Global Hotkey(i.g. ctrl+shift+right) would be such an great improvement in the usefulness of Spotify.

This would be awesome feature, since I just bought new keyboard (Ducky Shine 3 Tenkeyless), and currently I'm missing Play/Pause, Stop, Next and Previous keybindings from my keyboard.

2012, guys!!! WTF!! Add the option for global hotkey volume (multimedia keyboard volume) and options for custom hotkeys! I'm using toastify, but this is ridiculous!

It's not even hard to code that!

And this is not a 'awesome' feature, is an obligatory to any music player!

Really want to be able to configure keys. My keyboard has play/pause and track changer that works fine, but volume in my keyboard only works on global volume and I only want to use it for spotify!!

Wurdo, amazing! Thank you for taking the time to detail out all the steps. This worked beautifullly after I restarted Spotify. I've been looking for how to do this for a while with no luck. My old PowerPC had it but for some reason my new iMac 27" does not. I'm very happy! 😄
