This is an opportunity for a lot of extremely helpful features regarding clean and explicit versions of songs.
First of all, it would be great to see an easier differentiation between the clean and explicit versions of songs. Currently, we just have to look for the "Parental Advisory" sticker on the album art, which is easy to forget about and hard to see. When both versions are available, it would be great to either have [Clean] or [Explicit] at the end of the title, or an icon near the name (such as in iTunes). This will make differentiating easier.
Secondly, having a preference option for the whole account and/or each playlist would be great to simplify sorting between the versions and making something appropriate for work/children/parties/etc. At the account level of settings, I would recommend options of "Always Clean," "Always Explicit," and "Manual" or "No Preference." The latter option (Manual/No Preference) would allow each individual playlist to be governed by the same options: All Explicit, All Clean, and Manual/No Preference. The latter would allow you to create a playlist with both clean and explicit songs, utilizing their tagging system mentioned above to find which is which.
Just to show how great these implementations can be in practical application, here are some examples of use for each:
1) A young rap/hip-hop enthusiast who almost always listens to his music solo or with others of similar taste wants to always hear the true song as it was intended, so he chooses "Always Explicit" at the account level.
2) A mother of young children whose friends also have young children never wants something to accidentally slip through at the wrong time, so she chooses "Always Clean" at the account level.
3) The "office DJ" wants work-appropriate playlists, but also likes to let loose and party with other adults on the weekends, so she chooses "No Preference" at the account level and then selects "Always Clean" on her work playlists and "Always Explicit" or "No Preference" on her personal playlists.
This could also be somehow implemented as a Premium feature. For example, free account members can only select the account level options, but not the playlist options.
