There should always be visible links/buttons to the album and artist that is currently playing. If you navigate away, for example to search for something, there is an awful lot of taps to get back.
Yes, you can get to the currently played song, but if you want to back out of that song and look at the track list for the album you are returned to the search view (or whereever you were).
And, yes, you can click the artist/album name to view the album, but that is very unintuitive. Most navigation in iOS is built on a hierarchy with "back" meaning back to the parent view as opposed to the "previous" view).
And, yes, you can click the artist/album name to get to the album, then swipe left and then click the artist name/image to get to the artist, but then it's almost quicker to search for the artist.
Therefore, please create now playing Artist and Album links in the upper (or lower) corners, or somewhere, that are always visible regardless of where in the UI you happen to be.
This would also be a nice move towards a more album oriented/artistic mindset, instead of chopped up playlists with no context that is pre-dominant.
