Hi Spotify Team,
first, let me say Spotify Connect works really perfect. I love it to control what’s playing on my computer while laying lazy on my couch or so, just by some tips on my mobile phone. It’s the perfect remote-control-system for 21 st century.
Well, I also have one of this cool charging docks, so my phone “stands” when it’s charging. That’s quite cool because I can use it as a permanent visible little touchscreen controller to control what’s playing via Spotify Connect – and use the thump up/down buttons.
But, there’s only one disquieting function within my mobiles phones operation system (Android 4.4.4 by the way). Even when the phone will be charged, it always disables the screen after an adjustable timespan and there’s no – for end-users* – practicable way to deactivate this behavior.
So my suggestion would be, let the user decide whether the screen disables or doesn’t disable when the Spotify App is running in foreground and connected to the charger. For example, just add the WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON flag.
Thanks much
*: well, in developer options there’s a way to enable the display permanently when the device is connected to the charger. But on one side that’s always – not only when running Spotify – and on the other side, there’s a reason why the developer options are hidden 😉
