I really appreciate the 'Top hits' feature. I use it a lot.
It would be great if we could save 'Top hits' of an artist. Now I use a workaround: to make a regular playlist and put these 10 songs in it. But it's not a proper way to keep clean and tidy the system. I have too many playlists for this purpose that I can't find in "My music - Artists"
It would be easier if we could just hit 'save' the same way that we can save any album.
This way, we could save in the mobile phone the 10 most important songs of the artists that we follow. And it would be synced with new tunes that get popular.

Allright, I have searched far and wide, but almost all other posts seem to suggest a slightly different idea. Sorry if I had missed any that suggest specifically this - there is bound to be a few.
So, I had recently deleted all my playlist and I am attempting to build a collection in the Your music section of the app (Mac) for various reasons. I always created playlists containing the entire discography of a particular artist, but I usually tend to mix everything and listen to it, which Spotify doesn't let me do easily without creating a playlist containing said mix. Not to mention saving the music locally.
What I found to be a problem is that I cannot simply waltz onto an artist page and click save or drag and drop the artist to the "Songs" section of Your music. I either have to click save on every single album or select all the songs and drag and drop them (Which is somewhat acceptable for me even if it takes a long time to scroll all the way down, but read below). There's follow, which is pretty much useless to me as I mostly listen to people who are long dead and does something else anyway.
Now, this isn't so much of an issue for me as I imagine it is for Spotify and your servers. Let's use Ennio Morricone as an example. The guy has some 7000 songs, a lot of duplicates between albums, but 7000 none the less. When I select them all and drag + drop them to save them all, I imagine the app creates a humongous number of requests on your database. It visibly takes the app to catch on some 10 minutes before the albums are correctly marked as saved, then some more before the songs themselves are. I didn't take a look at the traffic in Wireshark, but I can imagine what it does for your servers judging from other parts of the app. If there instad was a Save discrography button, it would result in a single request a couple of characters long, which would be then locally processed between your servers.
Kudos or not, you might want to think about this one for a bit anyway, I'd consider it a fairly major bug if I was the developer..
Edit: A similar idea here. Until told otherwise or closed by mods I am leaving this open as I think this post has a few points worth mentioning.

I n the spirit of Spotify, that is, browsing and discovering new music - i find it odd that there are no support for saving artists. Such function would be usefull when browsing and discovering new artists. As-Is now, the only way to save artists which you discover is to create a playlist with them. This however results in a 100000km long playlist-waterfall in ones account, and as there is no possibilty to sort ones playlists, this seems rather redundant.
With such a function, It would also be usefull to be able to create custom cattegories with marked artists, so the same problem with playlists does not happen again - that is, the waterfall problem.
It should be possible to share a list / cattegory of artists which one has created. This would allow for people to mark artists, sort them and share. Particular usefull if lets say, i would like to introduce a friend to the gengre of Jazz. This way i can share a list of Artists which he then further would be able to delve into, on his own.
I am interested in creating a list with some nu jazz, however i do not remember all my favorite nu Jazz artists so i start looking through different playlists which i have created before. This seems redundant as i don't always know where i have put different songs from different artists. However the task of creating this playlist with songs from my favorite nu jazz artists, would have been much easier if; when i discovered the artists, had been able to mark / save them for future listening and playlist creation. Instead of searching through dozens of playlists i just go look up my *artist index* where i have saved all my favorite artists into my *nu jazz* cattegory.
