would be amazed if these haven't been mooted before (a trillion times cuz they're self-evident improvements) but here's the reasoning:
1. longer search history
when you're in the zone, queuing up solid fire, and everybody's vibing--wouldn't it be nice to have access to all that fire the next day, instead of just the last twenty search queries or whatever (often littered with drunken typos/mis-searches anyway). too many times i've curated a banging time on the fly and had no way of recollecting/reconstructing that master-set in toto. with a more extensive search history this would not be a problem. before some weenie pipes up: it's a pain in the butt to be making a playlist mid-party, and counter to rowdy instinct--not to mention all the friendly (heh) competition to grab next song, fiendish cellphone hijacking, which precludes any such deliberateness, motley folk throwing on whatever tickles their fancy or jiggles their fanny in the moment. bertrand plays something nice after my first five audio gems, maria breaks in after bert and one of the tracks she plays is wonderful and weird, new to all ears, etc. parties last a long time, sometimes, and unfold to long and variegated soundtracks, sometimes, and it should be easier to sift thru the messy record and bottle that nectar up--into a shareable playlist, if ye like
2. play next button
why simply "add to queue", spotify??!?! follow itunes's lead here. i still wanna hear gimme three steps, but before that i'd like to bliss out to begin the beguine, say, and one shouldn't have to thumb it up into position like a rat. kids these days are so sensitive to vibes--sullen little iTards, they'll flee the dance floor and sulk into their screens if you don't get it 100% right 100% of the time--so a responsible dj has to be capable of delicate improvisation, and his job's hard and thankless enough without that edit-queue move-it-up boo**bleep**. hail the play next feature!
which brings me to a bonus idea: annoying as heck when you play a song (without first adding it to the queue and engaging in arduous process just described) and the song you already had on deck is erased. why, spotify?!?! didn't change my mind about skynyrd, just wanna hear artie shaw for a second. a play next button would solve this problem, as would simply rejiggering the regime so that doesn't happen anymore
constructive crit aside, fantastic app!
