Hey there, @kirashi (Rock Star)! Tell us something about yourself.

Well, let's see... I like long walks on the beach and - oh, right. This isn't that kind of interview. *ahem* Although I eat and breath technology as a walking talking human Google machine, my true passions involve outdoor adventuring, photography, socializing with friends, and teaching people to make the most of technology. All of this is fueled by a love for damn good coffee.

I'm also a very hands-on person, preferring to learn by watching then doing, which is how I've taught most of what I know about computers and designed and built a few woodworking projects. Give me a piece of tech or code, I'll take it apart, put it back together, and point out where it could be improved.

So, what kind of music are you into?

Like other typical 90's kids, I grew up making "mix-tape" cassettes of Punk, Pop, and the plethora of 4-chord Pop tracks played on local radio stations. I've also played the classic hits of artists such as Stevie Wonder, Blue Rodeo, and The Police using a needle on a grooved plastic disc spinning on a lazy susan! That's a record player, for those of you who've never used one. (Highly recommend you give one a spin if you're ever given the chance.)

Although I love FM radio so much that I've been waking to the variety of music on our local radio stations for over 15 years, there are some genres I'm not fond of: Classical, Country, Jazz lacking funk, and overly auto-tuned Pop or "Rap" tracks. The genres I'll always be able to groove to include EDM, Bubblegum Dance (think Aqua's Barbie Girl), Punk/Ska, Soulful R&B, and Trance hits with strong female vocalists, in addition to most Pop songs. I owe most of my musical variety to friends and family who've introduced me to songs and artists I would have never found otherwise.

The leaders of the universe have chosen you to pick 5 songs to represent Earth's music. Which songs do you decide to use?

Oh boy. You're going to make me pick just 5 tracks? Can't I add a few zero's to the end of that number? No? le sigh Alright then, here goes nothin':

https://open.spotify.com/track/6lanRgr6wXibZr8KgzXxBl
https://open.spotify.com/track/1Fes5MQcOLhyA16q7lmpeK
https://open.spotify.com/track/6Qm9MaditCcx5V62rVHYqu
https://open.spotify.com/track/6golelYKuy85o3u0cxIxFK
https://open.spotify.com/track/5txKkMhlScOCGMuY0288kc

Alright, so this isn't exactly representative of the Earth's music, but they're some of my favorite love-inspired tracks right now. Or maybe I just want the world to be remembered for it's compassion for everyone on it. Who knows

I heard you're a photographer, what music do you listen to when editing your pictures?

I sure am! When I'm ingesting, tagging, and exporting photos in Adobe Lightroom you'll usually find me listening to vocal trance hits from the likes of Gareth Emery, Armin van Buuren, or Monstercat. There's just something about a solid dance beat with moving vocals that keeps me focused on my work. Shameless plug to my Instagram? Sure! https://www.instagram.com/kirashi/

Whats your favourite line from any piece of music?

Another tough decision to make... I can't just pick a single line of a song, so I'd have to go with the entire lyrical rendition of "Hands Held High" by Linkin Park simply because it captures the current state of the mid-2000 political quagmire in a way that only Mike and Chester could do. Although I love their entire Minutes to Midnight album, this track manages to bring "the feels" to me everytime.

Honorable mention goes out to "Reunion" by Paradise Fears. Although this song is about a reunion, obviously, I feel like it describes how disconnected our world can be despite being so close to to our friends, family, or loved ones. It reminds me to slow down and appreciate those close to me because we never know how much time this world gives us.

Thanks for taking your time to chat with us. Before we go, what joke always makes you laugh?

What joke always makes me laugh? Literal humor, such as that of the late Mitch Hedberg. https://www.buzzfeed.com/mrloganrhoades/a-complete-ranking-of-almost-every-single-mitch-hedberg-joke

A few of my favorites are below for your reading pleasure:
-"I remixed the remix... it was back to normal."
-"Dogs are forever in the pushup position."
-"My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them."
-"I want to make a vending machine that sells vending machines. It would have to be real big."
-"That would be cool if SpiderMan shot hammocks instead of nets. Hey, you're not a criminal, but you do need to relax."
