Hey there, @Stereochromatic (Rock Star)! Tell us something about yourself.

Hey there! I’m Stereochromatic and I’m a Twitter Rock Star for Spotify. Outside of the Spotify Community, I’m a gamer, a photographer, a writer, and a developer!

20160421_080705 - Copy.jpgSo, what kind of music are you into?

My music taste is a little all over the place! One thing that’s clear is that I love all sorts of rock, from the mainstream to the indie, to the modern to the classic. I also am a big fan of symphonic, neo-classical, and power metal.

Beyond that, I love funk and jazz, video game and orchestral music, pop and electronica--the list goes on. According to my Daily Mixes, over the years I’ve honed a taste for rap and K-Pop too!

One thing that seems to stay consistent between most of my music is the energy of it. The majority--though not all--of the music I listen to on a day-to-day basis is higher energy and faster paced.

What is a song/band that changed your taste in music?

I’m not sure if any one song, artist, or band changed my taste in music, but some have certainly expanded it.

Kendrick Lamar is a good example of an artist that ended up expanding my taste. He’s really good. I ended up listening to artists similar to Kendrick and expanding my taste in rap at large!

Snarky Puppy is another good example. Before them, I hadn’t heard much jazz fusion. Needless to say, I loved it. I’ve expanded to similar instrumental groups and artists since, like Hiromi.

If you had to pick 2-3 songs to summarize of your entire taste in music, what would you choose?

Considering my varied taste in music, this question is difficult! If you asked me tomorrow I might have different answers, but this is what I think works today:

Royal Tusk - "Cold On Me":

I like this one because it harkens back to classic rock while still being modern. It’s an energetic song with a fairly fast pace. Also, great guitar solo!

Fairyland - "Score To A New Beginning":

This is a great orchestral metal track with a sweeping story. I love this.

Cake - "Short Skirt, Long Jacket":

I love this piece of music. It’s got a comedic flavor while having a fun rhythm -- it even features a vibraslap!

What music do you recommend falling asleep to?

I actually don’t tend to fall asleep to music. It’s other noises that lull me a bit better, mostly things that I can interpret as background or environmental noises that I can focus on to help quiet my mind. Sometimes that’ll be a podcast or a critique video, but other times it’s just white noise! One of my favorite sleeping playlists is actually this one of thunderstorms:

Thanks for taking your time to chat with us. Before we go, what joke always makes you laugh?

I admit, most of what makes me laugh are inside jokes and memes. I know, terrible! But I’ll link a few videos that amuse me:
