Monthly Ideas Review

Every month the Community Team reviews our Ideas Board. In this blog we'll present some of the ones we’ve updated in the past month!

IMPLEMENTED:

1.  Sorting Options for List of Playlists

With the recent update to Your Library on mobile, it's now possible to sort and filter your Playlists, Artists and Albums in more ways.

To find the filters, just pull down on the tab you're on, select filters and then choose the one you'd like. The 'Custom Order' filter on the Playlist section will mirror the order you have on Desktop - which means it's now possible to maintain the way your organise your tunes on Desktop across to Mobile.

2. Bring Back Albums' Length

3. Add & Remove Content separately (Artist, Album, Songs)

4. Car View

5. Bring back the old Web Player

GOOD IDEA:

6. Spotify in Ukraine

Spotify is launching regularly in countries around the world. Please keep an eye on the Spotify blog or signup here to be first to hear if we reach Ukraine.

NOT RIGHT NOW:

7. Add complete Playlists to the Queue

We just wanted to update this to say it's possible to add all tracks from a playlist to your queue on Desktop. To do so, just head to your playlist > select all tracks using 'Ctrl/Cmd + A' > right click and select 'Add to Queue'.

There aren't currently plans to implement this on Mobile,  but if anything changes we'll update you here.

CASE CLOSED:

8. Bring back Recently Played to Your Library

With the new update you can now find your Recently Played tunes section on the home screen. Additionally, it's also possible to sort your Albums, Artists and Playlist by Recently Added. To do so, pull down to reveal the search bar, click the 'filters' options and then select 'Recently Played'. You'll also spot some other filter options too, like 'Name' so you can sort your playlists alphabetically.

9. Bring Spotify's old UI back

10. Option to show Lyrics only

I get if spotify though this was a good idea, but the overall responce has been so negative. Spotify needs to listen to the complaints and actually address them. I was so happy when I switched from apple music, but traversing my music became so much harder with this update, and I am actually thinking of going back if this is not fixed soon.

Hey! I want to tell the community and idea but I don't know where, so here it's. I use to listen podcast every morning, but when I'm walking I love to continue with my normal playlist, so I would love to have two queue, and switch one to another easily

Hi @-rmh8n_u3bz9e,

There's a special section to submit new ideas:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Idea-Submissions/idb-p/ideas_submissions

At the bottom there is an option to submit a new idea. First check if the idea is not already submitted by somebody else. If so give it your vote.

Regards,

René

Please improve the new music section in every genres.

Albums inside every genres are not updated every friday, often you find old albums.

This is the only thing that is better in Apple Music and Tidal.

Bye

Adding to the new UI.

Despite the little changes, I still found the new UI confusing and not user-friendly. I would like to be able to differentiate downloaded and not downloadedsongs/albums/artists, but I can not do this anywhere.  Before, I was able to filter for the downloaded music, and hide the liked-only. Now, It's all mixed. People don't always have WiFi and would like to listen to music on the way, without using cellular data.

Also, Spotify UI updates time by time remove the alphabet column from the right of the screen, which helps scroll much faster, to reach from A to Z. This also happened to the new UI, but later it showed up again - luckily.

Still, what I really miss: I would like to scroll amongst all my music (scroll amongst liked artists, amongst liked albums, liked songs) in an artist-alphabetic order, with the option to show only the downloaded songs/artists/albums.

The current way of having two separate lists in "Artists" is without reason for me. When browsing, I would not care if I liked the Artist itself or just a few songs, but would like to browse in alphabetic order. Now my previously known "list of authors" is completely gone, and dissected into two compartments... Without knowing what is downloaded and what is not.
