Duplicate artist (Kino + Кино)

Duplicate artist (Kino + Кино)

Hi,

These 2 artists:

https://open.spotify.com/artist/4NdNgVunt8RqVQUzWFh6cB

and

https://open.spotify.com/artist/2jkl2xJVm71azWAgZKyf42

are in fact the same Soviet band, just one has its name written with latin letters. Also the latin one has song names translated (the text is the same).

For example,

"A star called the Sun"

https://open.spotify.com/track/5MR7EUZne8eTRGj9WAVxaB

is the same song as "Звезда по имени Солнце"

https://open.spotify.com/track/37jEq76THGNXEoMxOeKZap

Also, it seems one "artist" has remastered albums, while the other one has older "original" ones, also one has more concert records. So simply deleting one will not help. The only exception seems to be this "Qui testera saura" album https://open.spotify.com/album/4qGEqj63LHwzIzoO08D09F which simply doesn't belong here.

This band no longer exists, but its songs are quite popular among Russian rock fans even today. And so as a side effect of having this duplicated "Kino" + "Кино" artist, any Russian rock radio on Spotify has twice more songs by this band than any other artist, sometimes the same song play two times in a row.

Could someone please fix this?

Hello:

I am not sure about this, one page of the content is in English translation, and the other being in proper written Russian language format. This might be all for the benefit of Russians maybe living in the U.S. and elsewhere in English speaking countries, and also for the benefit of English speakers who can not read proper Russian as it is written?

But I know who to mention in this post for how to do for this kind of thing. Hey @Rorey is this something that needs sent to the content team or the Radio team with the playback issues? With regards to this band having two different types of Artist pages, one artist page translated into English and another written in the proper Russian language format, and the Radio playback issues?

As for the album that does not belong on the artist page, the information below might help in getting it placed somewhere more practical:

If you've seen either

- a track, album, or artist in our catalogue with incorrect information (i.e. wrong release year, misspelling, etc.)

- different artists in the same Artist Page

- incorrect cover arts

- incorrect artists biography

or

- a track or album that isn't playing correctly (i.e. a song only playing one second of music)

Then you can report the error using our Contact Form. Once there, perform the following steps:

Step 1: Click on "I want to report a broken song or wrong song information".
Step 2: Click on the Green Button that reads "I STILL NEED HELP".
Step 3: Copy and Paste the track URI links to the songs into the field that reads "Song URI".
Step 4: Type up a description of the track issues in the "Tell us more" field.
Step 5: Click on the green button "SEND QUESTION".
Be sure to include all Spotify URI's in the body of the message!

After contacting us, you should receive an automated response from Spotify. The tracks will then be aggregated and reported to the content provider. We will update our database with the correct information as soon as the label or aggregator has sent us an update with the correct data.

Hi,
To me as a Russian speaking US resident it doesnt seem to be a convenience
feature at all. It looks as if the songs/albums were coming from two
different sources (copyright holders?) with different naming conventions
and so whatever algo Spotify uses to merge different sources into a single
db, it fails to properly merge these particular two. Again, at the first
glance there seem to be no exact duplication of albums, one "artist" either
has a different live recording or a remastered version compared to another
one, but it's clearly the same band and has to show up as a single artist.
Hope this makes it clearer. Please ping me if you need additional details.
