Free Audiobooks Not Available Even With Premium Account

My Question or Issue

Recently the free Audiobooks for premium members plan started. I went to try it out as I have a premium account and it states "locked" and mentions how I have to pay for the content. I've asked my friends and family and everyone else seems to be able to access the free Audiobooks, so I'm just wondering why I'm locked out.

I pay for Spotify yearly with their gift card option (buying a card from the supermarket and inputting the code instead of providing my bank details), and I was wondering if maybe this is the reason why I'm locked out? But if that's the case, I find it incredibly unfair as I'm still paying for my premium membership rights. Anyone else having issues accessing the content?

this is making me absolutely wild. my partner is the account manager and has access to audiobooks and i don’t. we are on a premium family plan for SIX YEARS. what kind of insanity is this?

We are running a Premium Duo account for several years now. While the audio book offering is tempting, the current implementation for Duo or Family accounts doesn’t make sense. I get, that Spotify doesn‘t want to give the full listening time to all members of such a plan. But then, why not sharing the time budget amongst all users of an account. Instead the restrict access.

Just another disappointment. With another price increase on the horizon when HiFi finally launches, I‘m looking to switch to Tidal (hifi, audio books, premium plans, cheaper than Spotify) after almost a decade on the platform. Very sad.

Paying should include all functions within spotify, I as a student would like to listen to audiobooks etc. But I can’t, please fix this.

I was listening to a free audio book within my premium plan (Careless People) and at 80% the book all of a sudden disappeared from Spotify and resurfaced behind a paywall?! Ridiculous!

How is it fair that you pay for the plan but only one person gets to use it? Spotify has been ruined over the past couple of years with the increased use of AI and the general greed of the company. Shameful!

This is absolute insanity. I've been a premium family member for seven years. My wife does not have access to the same content that we're both paying for solely due to the fact that I opened the account. I guess that's the appeal of being a virtual monopoly, you really don't need to listen to your customers in the least bit, you can force-feed them your precious algorithms that are bought and paid for by the same corporations that ran physical media into the ground. It will be a wonderful day when someone develops a decently usable streaming system and your lunch gets eaten.
