Sorry but this new "tiktok-like" interface is so ugly. Spotify needs to realise that a familiar design on one app absolutely doesn't work for others. It doesn't "promote discovery" and honestly just makes me feel less inclined to scroll through hundreds of what looks like Stories to find new music. It's an absolute eyesore and an assault on the ears to scroll through.
Hi!
This is an ongoing experiment by Spotify. There is currently no way to opt out or return back to the previous layout.
Check out this thread for the Now Playing view, and this thread for other UI elements. You can provide your feedback on these changes in each respective thread.

Spotify recently updated my Spotify home to feature large icons to scroll through, instead of the standard icons with recently played. For me, it was inconvenient, however if I had the option to choose how I wanted it, I may have liked it more.
I was unfortunately chosen for the new Home Screen update. I consider this a downgrade. It is a disorganised unusable mess. This has been rolled out since 2022 and I haven’t read one positive thing about it, yet Spotify keeps forcing onto unsuspecting paying customers. I have been told the are unable to revert it to the old user friendly version. I’m extremely unhappy with this. Spotify needs to come up with a solution quickly or many people will cancel their subscriptions.
I am not usually a "comment" blog kind of person, but I am hoping there will be enough noise to shut this update down. I've reached out twice now and been told it's a beta test that may or may not change. The update takes away a balanced relationship between autonomy and autogeneration, and throws irrelevant**bleep** on my screen. They're trying to capture more Gen Z users, at the expense of people who have been loyal to this platform since music streamlined to phones.
I hate the new layout so much. I’m not going to Spotify for scrolling content. I want to play my music or podcast then close my phone. Don’t fill the screen with one piece of music.
I also hate this feature with my gut, thinking about switching because of it

In the same boat. New homescreen is absolute trash. Been using app for 7 years and considering a change if its not fixed.
Hey there!
Thank you for sharing your feedback about this. At the moment, there is no way to revert to previous versions of the Spotify application. There's more information about why the app changes here.
In the meantime, if you would like to access your personalized playlists, you can go to Search > Made For You. From there, you'll access the entire hub of daily mixes, Discover Weekly, etc.
Thank you again for sharing your feedback about this and I'll make sure to pass it on to the right folks.
Let me know if you need anything else!
Having to search while I'm driving for something that should be there to begin with makes so much since. Jeez, crack team of designers you got there.
I've noticed that the Spotify app on iOS has updated recently, and frankly the new user interface is horrid. It's more akin to TikTok now in that you scroll through playlists one at a time. It used to be a lot more like the desktop interface in which there are several different genres of playlists you can sift through. I like this desktop version a lot more for a few reasons:
1. It is easier to use. It is far more streamlined and doesn't feel so clunky like the new mobile interface. Really, I find it easier to get to destinations within the app in the old interface as opposed to the new one
2. The new interface is ugly. Hear me out. The old interface was streamlined and everything had a place. I love using Spotify for this reason. Yet, the new interface is clunky and congested. I feel claustrophobic as I try to sift through playlists. Often times I end up just searching for whatever it is I'd like to listen to, but I really don't like this. I like finding new music and not just listening to the same old stuff.
3. The old interface provides more choice. Time and time again, people dare ask the question of if choice matters to humans, and the answer is always unequivocally yes. The new interface presents you with one option at a time, whereas the old interface provided you with multiple options/genres/playlists all at the glance of an eye. Overall, this made it far more easier to discover new playlists or releases from artists you love.
4. The new interface sticks you in a never ending loop. Let's return to my idea of choice and wanting to discover new songs. Spotify's algorithm already makes it hard to bust out of certain "genre loops" as I like to call them. What I mean by this is if you listen to a genre enough, pretty soon you will only be recommended that genre. No matter how much I try to best the algorithm, I am relentlessly beaten with the same old stuff. The new interface only makes this problem worse. Every time I open the app, it presents me with the same series of playlists that I really don't even care for.
The app is terrible now. It's gotten to the point where I've just been closing out of Spotify because I can hardly take it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Spotify. The desktop interface is magnificent. There's a reason I use Spotify over other music streaming apps. However, I cannot stand this new user interface. It has taken so much fun and joy out of an app I love so much. I desperately plea to the Spotify gods to fix this. I understand why this change was made, but believe me it is NOT working and I know I am not the only person who feels this way.
*I've provided pictures of what each interface looks like for comparison. I hope this provides more insight into what I'm speaking on*
Yes, this change is so stupid and dumb. Let people scroll down to the forever!
I completely agree. I opened Spotify on my iPad today expecting to see the row of recently played music that I would probably choose something from and instead found a bunch of "stories" (the UI elements remind me of Instagram stories) with a bunch of unused space around them. This isn't a good use of space and goes against so many good design rules. It also doesn't help with usability. I'm not opposed to design changes (I've implemented enough of them), but they should always serve a purpose and be beneficial to the user. This particular change is hostile to the user and is the worst design change from Spotify I've experienced in my 12 years of using the product.
Exactly! Thanks for the reply. Share this with your friends so they can like the post as well! I'm hoping this gets some traction so that the folks at Spotify can see it and know they need to update the interface. Or at the very least I hope a similar post garners attention. Either way this needs to change. I'm not much of a complainer but this specific problem really bothers me.
Mine is the same, I asked all my friends what they thought of the new update and I’m the only one to get it. It made Spotify unusable… I messaged Spotify and they said they were open to hear my feedback, but I have no option to change it back. I started an Apple Music trial in the meantime until the update goes away hopefully.
