Premium account and still gets ads in podcasts

Premium account and still gets ads in podcasts

I have a premium account and when I start some podcasts I get ads in my national language "Danish" but the Podcast is in English and after the ads that Spotify have put into the start of the podcast I also have to listen to about 1-1½ min of ads from the podcast company.
STOP this Spotify, I pay for not hearing ads and you still stuff them into the podcasts.

Hey there @Vonplaf,

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community. We'll be happy to shed some light on this 🙂

Spotify doesn’t play or include ads that interrupt the music listening experience of Premium subscribers. However, some podcast creators may include third-party advertising, host-read endorsements, or sponsorship messages in their episodes.

Regarding the language of the ads - it's normal to get ads in the local language of the country your current IP address is coming from.

We hope this clears things up. If you need anything else, give us a shout.

Same!!

Ad free is ad free.

This is misleading. They never specified that podcasts do still include ads.

Does anyone know a better service than Spotify?

I've been a fan and customer for years but they have changed to one of those evil big companies that doesn't even offer customer support anymore. All we have is this community. So let's build a community! Let's all help each other and migrate to a different app offering music, podcasts and audiobooks.

What do you all recommend?

Well said!

How is this even legal? Spotify cut customer support and added ads to podcasts after we signed up for ad-free Premium.I saw on the Netflix show that Spotify thinks we'll stay because we don't want to lose our playlists, but moving my liked songs isn’t hard. Honestly, there’s nothing keeping me with Spotify except a lack of alternatives, and I’m ready to switch. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, and now I feel disrespected by the lack of support and broken promises. I’ll choose any alternative over Spotify at this point.

I canceled YouTube Premium for similar reasons and don’t miss it—there are always other options.

Those podcasters are supposed to be paid by Spotify. Spotify is paid by its premium users. And by the ads from free users. That's it and that's all. Everything else is BS

I'm pretty sure it's against the law in Europe and Australia as well. We can probably individually complain to regulatory bodies and consumer protection agencies.

I’m absolutely in! What about Apple Music? Do someone know if they put ads as well?

Just checked my account if it is still premium, but it is! 3 years later and nothing has changed - it got even worse! No! It is NOT only the possibility for hosts, there are also ads from spotify! This is a really bad joke. I hate that there is no alternative for me to change! and PLEASE dont hit me with you copy paste answer, your subscribers are not stupid

I think the same, im paying spotify so i dont get ads and what am i getting?

ADS this shouldnt be normal, because i, and many others, PAY spotify to not get ads, this shouldnt be normal and should be fixed

I listen to podcasts a large chunk of my day, whether I'm trying to get to sleep or at work. I understand that certain podcasts have advertising within them that are spoken by the hosts "Best Fiends", "Liquid I.V" etc... (these I'm fine with).

Lately I've noticed that I'm receiving a lot of interruptions with "localised material" such as radio station podcast advertisements, furniture stores, city museum shows. I pay for premium, so I've specially paid to NOT have advertisements. These adverts will actually have their own cover image and say "advertisement in progress" with a link to their website.

I pay Premium price, for no ads - I would expect that to be across all audio?

As people are saying, the ads we're forced to listen while listening podcast -even though we pay a subscription- aren't embedded within the podcast recording. These are Spotify ads that even apear as ads with a message saying "the podcast will continue after the ad". !!!!!! See the image below.
Why would I pay for a subscription if it isn't to GET RID OF ANY KIND OF ADS? On top of that, the adds are not even from my country and there's no way I could get what the add is trying to sell to me, it's trash.

I'm seriously considering stop paying my subscription after many years and switch to other platform.

How is this the accepted answer? it's a useless post that bypasses the actual problem and does nothing to help. I'm listening to a podcast and I can see the cover image change to the ad, i can see the time bar change to the length of the ad. It also cuts in right in the middle of sentences and words, so this is not an advertisement being read by the hosts of the podcast and is part of the audio.

Why am I paying for an Ad-free subscription when Ad's are being injected and played in the player and NOT part of the audio I'm listening to?

EDIT: Was listening to a podcast where they literally said it is an AD free podcast, only to be followed by an AD,

EDIT 2: I scrolled down on the pod cast and in spotify there is a section that says "Recent Ads" and shows me the ad so i can click on it. This is not the podcast creator, it's In Spotify

So according to support Spotify is hiding behind a loophole and tricky wording. Premium advertises Ad-Free MUSIC, meaning technically anything that isn't music can play ad's and that's expected behavior and we can't do anything about it. I pointed out there is something can be done and that is to go to a competitor that provided ad-free podcasts and they closed the chat. I'm seriously considering leaving after nearly 10 years with Spotify for this **bleep**

Hej, Why do I have to listen commercials when I hear my podcast?

I pay Premium family precisely not to hear them.

They are audio ads during podcasts, not ads spoken by the host, or part of the podcast. It happens on multiple devices. The Spotify app in my Volvo xc60, and on my Samsung phone. It will pause the podcast and "advertisement in progress" will display on either screen with a 30 second countdown.

Australian here checking in in 2024. Dynamic ads in the podcast and today even got served discrete tracks before playing a podcast episode. Checked my account, all paid up duo premium. Please rectify this for Australian customers as you are currently in breach of the ACCC laws about false or misleading advertising.

Yep I agree lets contact the Accc and use all the posts to try make them do something.

I am annoyed to hear ads in the podcast I’m listening to. It’s extremely jarring and upsetting because I pay for premium which should mean ad-free. Stop the ads in the podcasts! It’s ruining my experience. 😞

My Question or Issue

Spotify has begun inserting ads in podcasts I listen to. I understand that this is done in partnership with the podcast creator and is deliberate, but if Spotify is purveyor of these ads then surely they are being compensated for it. This is an annoyance, but it doesn't really devalue the cost of premium in a meaningful way.

However, it seems highly disingenuous for Spotify to be subsidizing their own costs with this new ad integration, and simultaneously increasing the monthly cost of a standard premium subscription. Can someone make this make sense so I don't have to move to a competitor? I happen to like the app itself and would really prefer not to do that.

Me salen anuncios durante el potcast

Lets all goto Platsore and rate 1 star and write they forced ads in podcast.
