Skipping playback on Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome

It's one of the greatest funk albums of all time, and every digital copy I've ever heard -- from Itunes, to torrent, to Spotify, has the same skipping playback issue.

It's all over the record, but for a crystal-clear example, skip to 5:26 on Bop Gun and listen to the clear skip/stutter. It's not a playback issue, it's a source file issue. I'm sure of it. But why?? Does George Clinton browse these forums?
