Why is a song marked as "Explicit" has been censored?

A song I have been listening to for a few years now have recently been censored, as in some words turned into a jumbled nonsense. However, there are still lots of swear words in the song that are not censored. For more information, the censored parts are words like "weed", "drugs" etc.

The song is marked explicit, so I know what I'm getting into when I listen to it, so why the censorship? and why on selective words?

The way music is presented on Spotify is up to the artists and their music label.

If the music is censored, the artist or their music label may have decided to change it in Spotify.

It would be interesting to see what the artist thinks about it.

Also, you can fill out the contact form, and someone from Spotify will be happy to help you within 24 hrs. Don't forget to check your junk folder for responses as they may end up there.

In there you'll find 'I want to report a broken song or wrong song information'.

Hope it helps. 🙂
