"Couldn't load the lyrics for this song" error

As of version 8.8.20.544 and the version prior to that has caused the lyrics from my personal playlist in my device 'Samsung-SMJ250F' to disappear, at first I thought it was brcause the songs were old but way older songs still had lyrics
The playlist is a private playlist featuring all songs of 'DragonForce'
and after the update none of the songs had lyrics.

My Question or Issue

For up to a few months at this point, no lyrics are displayed for some of the songs I play.

From this post, I also see that others are having the same issue as me recently too.

I tried clearing the cache of my Spotify app, I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. It did not work. Somehow, the lyrics don't even show on the website client.

As can be seen, it only displays the default message for when there are no lyrics for a song.

I have also seen some claiming it is because of Musixmatch unable to provide lyrics that Spotify can't display lyrics too. That is far from the fact, as seen below:

It is also to note that it is for a select few of my songs. Some of my songs are still able to play normally, despite the fact that both the songs able to display lyrics and the songs unable are both on Musixmatch.

Another observation is that the songs on Musixmatch but unable to display lyrics has a microphone icon, but merely displays the "lyrics not working" screen. Some less popular songs not on Musixmatch do not have that option at all.

What you describe sounds like a common "catalogue issue" problem.

The causes that can lead to this type of problem are multiple, but in short it is the fact that the lyrics are no longer properly linked to the Spotify music.

This is the most common and easily solvable problem :

1. For this you should join the Musixmatch community Slack open to all.
2. In this Slack, a channel named "#catalogue-issues" is present.
3. And you will have to ask a "refresh" specifying the link to the album(s) concerned (even if it only affects one track, send the album link). Also, you can report wrong lyrics on this same slack, in another channel, if you want it.

If there are no other specific issues, then the lyrics will be available for viewing on Spotify within 24 to 72 hours.

Hello everyone,

Today I'm here to talk about the functions of the app or basically "the lyrics", since 4 months ago when listening to songs I can't see the lyrics of the songs (mostly), the point is to talk to the Spotify team and suggest that they change this, because, it is very annoying that I have to look for an external page or app to read the lyrics of some songs that I don't know. I love the way the lyrics interface is, but it would be better to be able to see all the lyrics of the songs.

I added the lyrics and sync to a song called rafflesia by toiki/isubokuro in October last year and they haven't been added to Spotify yet. I don't believe there were any issues with the lyrics themselves and they've been verified by the musixmatch community.

The main artist i listen to is taylor swift. I love to learn the words to her songs so I can sing along but as of this moment I think there are only lyrics to 6 of her albums. I find this very annoying as I know that taylor swift was spotifys number 1 artist in 2023 so I think they should at least make all the top artists songs have lyrics.

Its not just those songs but half of TOMORROW X TOGETHERS discography's lyrics have disappeared. Im a huge kpop fan and most of the artists that I listen to have had their songs lyrics disappear for example BTS, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, P1HARMONY and many others.

Same issue here as of now, popular songs like Gangnam Style which I know used to have lyrics do not anymore. I'm hoping this isn't going to become a premium feature.

Lots of song are without lyrics. And Spotify does nothong!
This problem lasts few months and no sollution!

The best sollution is to start using another music streams.

I checked and there are lyrics on the music you are talking about, so it is very likely that this has indeed become a feature available for premiums only.
I think the solution would be to contact support about this.

It's been months since the lyrics to almost every Taylor Swift album before "Speak Now TV" lost the lyrics, you can't possibly be saying that all songs from "Reputation" and "Midnights" are temporarily gone... they ARE gone for real unless Spotify notices this thread, and you're masking our complaints with a top answer. I have a friend who has the Premium version and in his everything's fine. Also, some of the songs appear in the Android app but not in the PC app, so it really is some sort of code error. Please Spotify, it's been MONTHS, time to fix this or I guess I'll have to find another way to hear my faves.
