I started recieving an unknown error with the message:
ShellExecuteEx failed; code 1155
No application is associated with the specified file for this operation
when I tried to start Spotify I realized that the error comes on windows start up and when I manually try to start Spotify. The program doesn't start at all.
So I uninstalled Spotify, downloaded the setup from the website, installed it - works fine again! After some time I recieved a pop-up in Spotify to restart the program 'cause there is some new version available.
I did close Spotify and on starting again, I got the same error I described above.
Now every time I uninstall / install / run spotify, the client downloads the next version in the background and after closing or shutting down my pc, I get that darn error again and again.
Running on Windows 7 btw
Solved! Go to Solution.
Wow, i think i have the solution! you have to go to C:\User and then delete the .txt file (Username.txt) or just move it into another file. I dont know why this works, but spotify runs now normally again :) Sorry for the bad english, i tried to translate this advice from another user, who speaks german :D
Looks like your file would be the one called "Mein". If you want to be on the safe side, you could just rename it for now (that change can be taken back).
Left click once on the file "Mein", so that it's highlighted. Now hit the F2 key. Rename the file to "Mein.old" and enter to save. Double click the Spotify icon on your desktop or start Spotify from your Start Menu. It should do a quick re-install and then work without any issues, if I'm correct.
