error code 4 - doesn't recognise internet connection

Hi,

for about a week now my spotify premium has not worked, as it constantly states I am offline and it will reconnect when connections are available. However my internet connection is fine for everything else, but spotify just doesn't seem to recognise it. I have tried restarting, logging out etc but it's always the same.

Help please, this is very frustrating!

Hallelujah

I turned Windows Firewall off, uninstalled Spotify and then reinstalled, and it works.

Six weeks of frustration out of the window.

How to fix you code 4(Offline)

 

Download spotify again, without uninstalling your spotify.

Install the new spotify that you just have downloaded and it will automatic recognize you previous version.

Replace it and install.
Have fun.

It's Simple...I think! Because it worked for me without the uninstall/re-install process.

Assuming you're on Windows 8

 

Go to your Control Panel and under System Security, Go to Widows Firewall.

Look for "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall" then click on it

Scroll down and locate Spotify make sure you check the box for your corresponding network (Private or Public).

To make the box selectable, you have to click on "Change Settings"

 

After that, restat Spotify and you should be Golden!

I tried several suggestions: logging in/out, reinstalling while the program was still installed, messing with firewall settings... What worked for me was uninstalling the whole program, then installing fresh. Works!

Same problem. 
I am behind proxy and I set the proxy in Preferences, but connection not working.
The pitties thing is, when I go into Preferences again there is blank sceen ... only grey background, but there is not any setting visible.

So I can't switch the proxy off at this time :-(

I have the same issue since the newest update. I'm behind a proxy too. The Preferences are black for me too. So can't change anything. :/

same here, it was normally working when I change my proxy settings in prefs file from

 

 

network.proxy.addr="iproxy:8080@https"

 

to

 

network.proxy.addr="iproxy:8080@http"

 

but it does not work now. :(

I am having exactly the same problem. a fix would be much appreciated. To make it more complicated, it will not respond to 'quit Spotify'. I have to go to program manager to shut it down.
