My Question or Issue
I installed spotify from aur. In version 1.2.79.425, the close button didn't work. And I cannot minimize spotify to system tray either.
I can confirm this on Arch Linux as well.
On Spotify 1.2.79.425, the close button doesn’t minimize the window to the system tray anymore. Right now closing the window either exits Spotify or leaves it running without actually hiding.
This only happens for me on Wayland. I downgraded my package to 1.2.74.477-3 and this version fixed all those issues.
Happens on arch linux with Spotify 1.2.79.425.
System tray works fine for other apps, spotify's tray *thinks* the window is minimized (shows "show spotify" when attempting to close window via close button/keyboard shortcut), but pressing it does nothing.
Downgrading fixes the issue as well.
i have the same issue. kde/arch here
Same issue with Fedora 43 KDE, same version of the app.
Close buttons do nothing, as if it doesn't exist, however, the app appears in the system tray and can be exited there.
Same issue here. Arch Linux, KDE Plasma Wayland
Spotify got an update today to version 1.2.79.427.g80eb4a07 and still have this issue.
I have the same issue on KDE Plasma Archlinux.
Spotify version: 1:1.2.79.427-1 and the one before that.
How did you roll-back? The package seems to have been deleted at the upstream
For anyone still having this issue, you can give the flathub version of Spotify a shot (although I recommend caution with any and all third-party packages):
flatpak install flathub com.spotify.Client
i agree this is the solution for now. personally i don't like flatpaks they occupy too much space.
