Me and my friends have created a collaborative playlist. According to Spotify the collaborative playlists should be private. The playlist I have created does not show up on my profile but if you look at a followers profile it shows up as a public playlist. Anyone can technically get access to the playlist through this method. The playlist should either show up on everyones profile as a public playlist or show up on none of them.
Your friend has probably set the playlist to show publicly on their profile.
Tell them to right click --> make private
As the creator, how do I make the playlist show publicly?
In the desktop app you can make a playlist public by right clicking it in the left side bar ---> Make Public
This can also be done in the mobile app by selection the option menu for the playlist.
The option is grayed out on both desktop and mobile. It is true my friends have the option to make the playlist public or private, but as creator you cannot (I have tested this with another playlist my friend created).
