I'm running Spotify 188.8.131.520.g51b03ac3 on a HP EliteBook 2560P laptop with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64 bits. When running Spotify my laptop frequently hangs with high disk activity. SPotify keeps playing the current track, but I cannot start a new track until the disk activity ends. Starting another process is virtually impossible while Spotify is using high disk I/O as well.
IOTOP shows a thread "spotify [-eyValueST]" responsible for heavy disk activity. What is this thread for and why does it clog up my laptop?
