How is the Top 50 calculated?

Hello, 

I am from Italy and I have a very peculiar case of a song that is increasing by +50k in the number of streams on a daily basis. 

Despite that, this song never appears in the Top 50 Italy (entry #50 is usually around +17k).

Now, these streams are apparently calculated into its "equivalent sales" by FIMI (the society that puts out all the numbers and certifications here) so there should be no reason to say that they come from other countries.

For this reason I would like to ask how does your Top 50 work? Does it count 1 single stream for every IP address?

If that would be the case, then it makes sense that there are less than 17k IP addressing streaming the song (so no appearence in the Spotify Chart) but they are streaming it more than once, so its overall amount (relevant for "equivalent sales") goes up by 50k.

I think it counts how much it is played and not how many people plays it.
