KWin custom rules on KDE, WM_CLASS

Am not able to use KWin custom rules with Spotify. Other windows work. Up-to-date KDE with Xorg. I found this https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Linux/WM-CLASS-window-property-on-Linux/m-p/1511491/highlig... Can this be solved nowadays without the workaround? To be clear, I'm not sure the WM_CLASS stuff is whats happening.

I am also wondering about the status of this? Because of this it is still not possible to maximize the window on startup via a kwin rule - at least not without the workaround based on spotifywm (as described here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Linux/WM-CLASS-window-property-on-Linux/td-p/1247042). It would be great, if this could be finally fixed.
