Latest Linux Desktop breaks Spotify app (Spotify version 1.0.25.127.g58007b4c)

Latest Linux Desktop breaks Spotify app (Spotify version 1.0.25.127.g58007b4c)

Hi 🙂

I'm not sure where to put this one but the latest Spotify version 1.0.25.127.g58007b4c breaks the linux app!!
After the install on Linux Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) there is nolonger any program on the bottom app bar in the GUI nor is there any system tray so the only way to stop the app after having minimized it is to do: "sudo killall -9 spotify" from the Terminal.

As a Spotify primium user I'm very disapointed. The reason for running Linux on my old mac is the fact the OSX 10.6 branch is no longer suported!

Either re-open suport for OSX 10.6 branch or make a Linux update that works!

Cheers,

Daniel

Hey @pushpop2002,

Welcome to Spotify Community!

Here are the known linux specific issues in 1.0.xx

  • Missing application menu
  • Missing tray icon
  • Minimize (to tray)

I can suggest you to stick with 0.9x version until all these issues are fixed.

You can find the .deb package here.

The current solution is to use Alt + Tab and everything works without the need for either Tray or program panel 😄

If you use Alt + Tab you can switch to the running Spotify and still have the latest 1.x branch version!

I can confirm that this approch works in Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) with the latest Cinnamon 2.8.8 GUI.
