Moving title in playlist

Moving title in playlist

When I move a title from lower part of playlist to upper part of playlist, the scrolling is slow and it takes a long time to move the song upwards or downwards. CPU thread goes up to 100%. Why is a simple playlist scrolling so CPU intensive and how do you find a better solution for it? It's a basic function.

Hi,

I use Ubuntu Studio 20.04LTE, Spotify Snap installation.

Hardware Specs: i5-6500, 32GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics, 1TB SSD

Obvious suggestion, but have you tried installing spotify normally instead of using snap?

Yes, I also tried the apt package. The problem is the same. When starting spotify from console, I get the following error:

Bildschirmfoto_2020-06-06_12-14-04.pngAfter some research I found out that it's a GLX error from the hardware rendering module of the X-Server. To get rid of this, starting XServer without GLX solves this and scrolling is awesomely fast then.

/usr/bin/startx -- -extension GLX

To permanently start X-Server without GLX, create a config file:

/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/disable-gpu.conf

with the the content:

Section "Extensions"
    Option "GLX" "Disable"
EndSection

Note that Xwayland in Wayland compositors like Gnome3-Wayland will ignore settings in xorg.conf.d.
