As addition infos, I don't use pulseaudio. Spotify has no use flags enabled : Installed versions: 1.0.88-r1^ms(01:24:16 PM 08/27/2018)(-libnotify -pax_kernel -pulseaudio -systray)
It used to work perfectly fine with the previous version, so I assume something is broken in this new one.
I'm attaching the strace from advanced troobleshooting, I've had to zip it to make this forum accept it, sorry for the inconveniance.

I downgraded to version 1.0.80 for now.
I can confirm that there is something wrong with the alsa driver or the fallback code that first tries to see if pulseaudio is available.
I will try to delay pushing 1.0.88 from testing to stable until this can be fixed.

I just installed 1.0.92 from Gentoo repository. Seems to work here.
