Slow spotify / slow GUI / slow play song

Spotify seems to consume quite incredible amounts of CPU/net/disk whenever I start a song. Are there any upcoming fixes planned for this? It is quite annoying to have a freeze for a few seconds every now and then. And no, I am not running any other resource-intensive programs. There are gigs of free memory, no CPU (intel i5) load and nothing else is writing to disk, network is gigabit up/down (and it also happens in offline mode, duh).

I mainly interested in whether spotify acknowledges and plans to fix it or not. It is not like spotify needs to do numerical analysis or complex, or other resource intensive operations. Even streaming media should be pretty low-end, given how well compressed it is/should be, right?
