Ubutun 16.04 error code 4

Ubutun 16.04 error code 4

Spotify suddenly stopt working on my laptop. It runs ubuntu desktop 16.04 x64.

When i start spotify i am able to log in, but after waiting 30 seconds spotify reports error code 4 and stays offline.

Internet is fine, spotify web player works fine on the same laptop.

I have attached the dump when starting spotify. Really like to get help to enjoy spotify again.

Already tried:

- Reinstalling spotify

- Emptying .cache storage

- Switching proxy settings back and forward

I am sorry, I don't know what this could be, but I have seen others complain about the same thing.

It just sounds like your spotify desktop client can't connect to Spotify's servers for some reason. The web player is not talking to the same servers, so it might be some kind of network issue that only affects the desktop client, but it might be something else.

If you really want to clean any references of a Spotify installation, you should also clear out the files in $HOME/.config/spotify

# Purge the spotify package
sudo apt purge spotify-client

# Remove repository information and its signing key
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list
sudo apt-key del BBEBDCB318AD50EC6865090613B00F1FD2C19886

# Remove Spotify config and cached files for the current user cd $HOME/.config rm -r spotify cd $HOME/.cache rm -r spotify

and then follow the instructions at https://www.spotify.com/download/linux/ to install it again.

I don't think this will help though.
