Unable to maximize desktop player under xfce4 (xubuntu 13.04, 13.10, 14.04)

The maximize button on the spotify window appears to maximize the window for a moment before it reverts to its original size. Double-clicking the title bar has the same effect. This happens under xubuntu going at least as far back as 13.04, but possibly further. (I haven't tested any further back)

Another (possibly related?) issue:

If I minimize (but not close) spotify, when I open it back up it occasionally appears ~20px lower than it was when I minimized it. I have not noticed any sort of pattern as to when this occurs.

The second issue has been reported previously, unfortunately with Spotify for linux an unofficial release that a few devs make in their free time (and it is build on normal Ubuntu) I do wonder if these small bugs will ever get fixed.
