Why is the "Repeat ONE Song" Feature gone?

Solved!

Why is the "Repeat ONE Song" Feature gone?

I just wonder, why the feature "Repeat ONE song" is gone after the lastest update?

This is really annoying...

Hey all,

turns out, my described issue is related to the connected output device. Not client or even network related as assumed.

I usually listen to music via headphones or bluetooth speakers, which all seem to support the "repeat one song" feature.

Recently I connected my AV receiver as output device, which does work in general, but also seems to bring only a limited feature set. The "repeat one song" feature is not available here.

Just wanted to let people know, who might scratch their heads over this. 😉

Hi @d00bster, thanks for writing!

What device and Spotify version are you using?

As far as I'm concerned, the "repeat one song" feature is still there 🙂

Ok, this is really weird and I feel stupid right now...
I am using the official app on Android and the Desktop app for Linux ,
The Android app (8.5.54.869) now works again. It sure didn't, before I posted here.
The Linux Desktop app (1.1.10-r1) still doesn't work.

Hi @d00bster, I'm sorry for the late reply.

Right now Linux is not an officially supported platform by Spotify which means that  they, unfortunately, can't guarantee that all features will work without any issues.

You could try some troubleshooting steps though, like logging out > restarting your device > logging back in and a reinstall, but I can't promise that you'll get the feature back.

You can also check this page here for reference why the experience might differ on Linux.

Hope this helps 🙂

Just for reference it works for me. If by "repeat one song" you mean clicking the loop symbol until there's a "1" on top of it. I play a song, and it repeats the song when it ended. But if I clicked next (>|), it switches to another song. As long as I don't click the next button, it works.

Hi @cHDMmFRE, thanks for writing!

Yes, that's actually how it works (or how it's supposed to work) on every platform.

Hey @d00bster, just to make sure, does it happen even when you don't click on "next song" button?

Hi all, thanks for your replies and solution suggestions... just wanted to give you a little update.

I am aware, that there is no official linux desktop support for Spotify. I just mentioned the Linux Client as an _addition_, since you wanted to know what kind of clients produce this problem.

However, let's focus on the latest official Android app out of Google Play Store on a non-rooted smartphone for the rest of this thread, ok? 🙂

Not sure, if a mod wants to move this into another sub-category of the community forum... (sorry, if I am creating a mess here... I didn't mean to. 🙂 )

As I've mentioned before, this seems to be a weird problem...
Right now as I'm writing this, the "Repeat One Song" Feature (yes, @cHDMmFRE, we are talking the same feature) does work again on my Android device.
It has also worked the last couple of days for the most part. Eventhough it didn't work (again) about 2 or 3 times inbetween my posts here. So, it's not really solved...

I thought, it might be a network problem on my side (WLAN or VPN issues). But I guess I can rule this out too, since the "error" also appears, when I use straight LTE connection without any VPN activated.

However, I am not sure, if we can finally solve this "issue" here. You can close this thread, if you like, eventough there is no real solution.
I will keep monitoring and let you know, if there should be any news on my side.

For me it was just important to verify, that the feature was not intentionally removed by the programmers, since I use it quite often and would dearly miss it... 😉

Thank you @all for trying to solve this...
Take care and stay safe! 🙂
