Won''t play music, with error message

Won''t play music, with error message

Attempts to play a song result in the error message "Spotify can't play this for you right now. If you have the file on your computer, you can import it". Spotify then searches through the current playlist until it finds a playable song, but plays only ten seconds of it, then the audio ceases, but the progress bar continues.

The Spotify for Windows version v8.82.634 that you appear to be using was updated in response to the message. Regrettably, you received another update reminder even though you've already performed the required actions.

Hey there!

Sounds like something's up with the communication between Spotify and the audio of your system. I would recommend:
1. reinstalling Spotify. Clean reinstall is best.
2. ensuring you have no issues with your audio elsewhere.

3. going through your audio settings and ensuring Spotify is using the right audio output device.

How did you install Spotify (aka is it .deb, a snap, flatpak,...? Also what OS and desktop environment are you using?
