media keys not working on GNOME 3.24

media keys not working on GNOME 3.24

I'm using the spotify 1.0.59.395.ge6ca9946 client on GNOME 3.24.3 but the media keys (i.e. play/pause/rev/ff/etc.) don't seem to be working.

I can use the dbus signals such as:

$ dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.spotify /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2 org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player.Pause
method return time=1506953190.414330 sender=:1.3764 -> destination=:1.3766 serial=39 reply_serial=2
$ dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.spotify /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2 org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player.Play
method return time=1506953192.177824 sender=:1.3764 -> destination=:1.3767 serial=41 reply_serial=2

just fine.

My media keys are bound to the Audio play, etc. functions in GNOME Settings (gnome-control-centre) just fine and work with other native GNOME applications such as Rhythmbox.

Any ideas?

I am experiencing the same problem in gnome 3, is there any idea how to fix this?

I had the same issue for a while, my problem was that I had hidden instances of spotify running that intercepted the commands.
