unable to install spotify on ubuntu 16.04 xenial xerus

whenever i try to enter the command "sudo apt-get update
"

i get the message as "E: Type 'sudo' is not known on line 55 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
"

i have started using ubuntu a couple of weeks back and wondered how can i get back my spotify library .But i have gone through the official method .Didnt help me .Gone through a couple of more popular forums but still didint find any luck

Your sources.list is probably corrupt. Can you post the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list?
