Apple Music (sometimes) opens when I'm trying to play Spotify

If I have Spotify open on my laptop, I can usually use the play/pause button and it works fine. However, it seems like when I have my music paused for longer than a few minutes and try and use the play/pause button again, it opens Apple Music instead of continuing to play from Spotify.

Do you happen to listen to something else in the meantime or playback different stuff while Spotify is paused?

I'd also suggest updating to macOS Catalina 10.15
