Hello to everyone,
It's been a while that I can't use Spotify on Mac (Catalina 10.15.3), I just have a black screen.
Of course I re-instal many times, I also disabled hardware acceleration. Some previous help told my to change lines of code on the library, but It did not work either.
Nothing change, and I am annoyed now.
Do you please have any idea how to fix that ?
Thanks a lot !
The use of proxy may be affecting the connection of the Spotify app with the server. I had a proxy configured but it caused me problems with some apps. Remove proxy and this is fixed, even for spotify web by google chrome, brave and other browsers.
Go to System Preferences then Network, Advanced, Proxies, and in the list on the left disable everything related to Proxy
I am using Big Surs iOS and have this problem. I have tried all of the above fix's and none have worked.
Hey folks,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
@Tim002 and everyone who's still experiencing this - can you please let us know your exact OS version and Spotify version (if you're able to see it), so we can report this to the relevant team?
Looking forward to your replies.
Hey @Tim002,
Thanks for the reply and for the info shared.
In this case, can you let us know the exact troubleshooting you've tried? We'll need you to be more specific in that matter.
On another note, can you share with us the exact Spotify version you have running?
Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.
Keep us in the loop!
I had posted a year or two ago about this. I was having the black screen on my new macbook air. I was always running the latest operating system and latest version of spotify. On my iMac it worked just fine with the same setup. I tried uninstalling Spotify, turning off hardware acceleration, amongst other things. Nothing ever worked. Now randomly about 2 months ago it magically opened just fine and has been working ever since. No intervention in any way, it just started working again.
I know that doesn't really help much. But for anyone having this problem...it really does seem to be random and no intervention ever fixed anything. It happened to me over 2 different OS versions and multiple updates over the course of time.
@hvarday - thanks a ton! Even 2 years later...this is the solution!
I'm on a Premium Plan, Australia. Recently reinstalled Spotify on my Mac Desktop to update it, but screen now black/blank after update to Ventura 13.6.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled App, and have restarted the system. I am on Telstra and wifi is working fine.
Free/Premium
Can anyone assist me with this or do I need to go direct to Spotify and seek help? It is still not working.
Start Spotify (should be the blank screen)
Open 'Activity Monitor' select 'CPU' sort by 'Process Name'
Scroll down till you see the Spotify processes kill the 'Spotify Helper (Renderer)' process by clicking the 'x' at the top of the window.
It should start up again and the Spotify window should not be blank.
You may have to do this every time Spotify restarts.
