Blank Screen - Have tried many proven solutions

Seemingly out of the blue, my desktop spotify began opening up to a blank black screen. I have looked through many community posts and have tried the following based on other solved cases:

1) logging out and then logging back in which I tried by using "Log Out" under "File" but instead of making any change I can now not even log in on my desktop version as screen is still blank.

2) Deleting certain languages in "locales" which I tried to no avail.

3) A complete uninstall as outlined by spotify (did this many times)

4) remove Spotify from automatically opening on startup in "Users & Groups" (no help)

I dont know why this would be related but yesterday my google chrome has been experiencing the same problem (i.e. every window I open shows as blank). Safari works and no other apps I have tried show this behavior. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

You can run the Apple Hardware Test to determine if there may be a problem with your graphics card.
