My Question or Issue

I was sent a huge list of songs from spotify. It was simply done by going to the History of the play queue, select all, copy, then paste. Here's a few of it.

https://open.spotify.com/track/2p6PmhAtI3WkAOGDbnJp19?si=2L6PrbsbT92dMfxSIIDurA
https://open.spotify.com/track/7sgi66biRYpAXuRZJBDuli?si=EIlY0zxjRFWkwXMtTvtsew
https://open.spotify.com/track/6jWLyg8AuMQ9LtIB2UlfOF?si=3UnOJiOLTLGESWlYlsC9Mg
https://open.spotify.com/track/0AQHfKjzky28rf5ytfBANJ?si=HXP6GOEXTpCDikFzADSOwg
https://open.spotify.com/track/3SZLtkoHoECHHuOnNkNCuS?si=9-1zlBTpRg-3DSc2cubALw
https://open.spotify.com/track/2lFlveK1y13WWp3vnQtrr3?si=_Uc1REzjTxGapnkbSu-m-Q

What my problem is, try copying the links above. Then paste them to a playlist. It should work, but it's not working for me. I'm spamming paste but nothing's happening. But when I paste in a text area, it works. If i paste one link into Spotify's search, it goes to the song. So the links are not broken. I just can't paste them to a playlist in Spotify.

Again, to emphasize, steps to reproduce:

1. Copy the spotify links above.

2. Paste them to a Spotify playlist.

It should be pasted onto the playlist, but it's not working for me.

Hey @rigorio,

How's it going? Do you have lots of tracks to add to the playlist? If not, the best thing to do here is to paste each track onto the Search bar to find it, and then add the track manually to the playlist by right-clicking on it and then Add to Playlist.

Let us know if that helps.

It's a lot. Probably by a couple hundred. So no that won't suffice as a solution sorry 😞

Hey @rigorio.

I don't believe it's possible to paste multiple Spotify song links into the bar and add them to a playlist, and there doesn't seem to be a workaround for it, either.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news 😞

If you need anything else, give us a shout.

Hey @rigorio I just want to jump in here.

The reason you can't paste those is because they are links--you can only paste the song URIs.

Song URIs look like this:

spotify:track:1MzFmVDSl7Vm00f3Hw4Xfx

spotify:track:6ttsH99vfvkAPF3s1tIPqB

spotify:track:0dDZPziZGcQV4bUBaKfzyJ

Those you can paste (any number) into a playlist. I hope that helps!

But when i copy a song from a playlist, paste it somewhere as a link, then
copy the link and paste it back into a playlist - it works.

Hey @rigorio.

Are you talking about links, which look like this:

...spotify.com/track/1bq5tjmhrTLieir3ubBnVz

or are you talking about URIs, which look like this:

spotify:track:1bq5tjmhrTLieir3ubBnVz

In any case, in order to paste songs into a playlist, they need to be URIs.

So, in the case of your play history, you can select all the songs, right click and select Share > Copy Spotify URIs. Then, when you create a new playlist and you are in the Spotify app, you can paste the selected URIs directly into the playlist.

Hope that makes sense. If you have any more doubts, we'll be right here 🙂

The URI method does work. I was in the same situation with a text file full of HTTP links that would not paste. I used a text editor and search/replace to convert each line from this format:

https://open.spotify.com/track/6iy4PoAuZBMvtrlDX4VxC7?si=Q2rYvs-QQieAEwxmVe1cog

to this format:

spotify:track:6iy4PoAuZBMvtrlDX4VxC7   (get rid of the ? and following text)

and then I selected all with Ctrl-A and pasted into Spotify playlist with Ctrl-V and it worked.

You can also select all the songs you want then right click and select " Add to playlist". Yoh can either choose from the ones you already have or make a new one for these songs, no matter the number, this will pretty much do it.
