Running on OS X Mavericks. I went to go do something and I came back to my computer and my spotify was logged out and I can't seem to log back in. Is there any sort of backend update that happened recently that would cause this? I would switch to the web player but the audio cuts out after about 10 seconds so I can't use it. I've tried changing settings to select 'No Proxy' but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Hey there folks,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.
We understand your frustration and we'd like to explain a bit more of what's happening here.
At Spotify, we are always working to provide our users with the best possible listening experience. We continuously encourage users to use the latest version of our app as it contains the newest features and bug fixes.
To pave the way for a broader and better user experience, we have shut down Spotify desktop application versions that have been released before April 2021. That’s why customers who have been using an app version released before then will lose their access to the app after the sunset.
Older versions of the app often have broken or missing features due to their old interface, which cannot support the latest Spotify experience. In addition some of these old apps have security vulnerabilities associated with underlying older technologies. These vulnerabilities are not available on the latest versions of the app and can only be eliminated by shutting down services built with older technologies.
If you own a computer (Mac or Windows) with a version of Spotify app older than 1.1.59, then you should try to update the app to the latest version to keep enjoying Spotify, we have instructions on this support page to help you. We recommend making sure that your Operating System is updated to the latest version first.
In the meantime, you can also enjoy your favorite music and podcasts through the Spotify Web Player.
Lastly, don't worry - your account is still active and no changes will be made to your playlists, play history or preferences.
Hope this clears things up.
Same for me. I have the Spotify app installed on Linux. Was running 4 hours ago. Got logged out and now cannot log back in.
same problem here.... Have an old macbook and was logged out and now I can't log in on my desktop spotify... I pay for this 😞
Hope this will be fixed.
This is happening to me
I have exactly the same problem. Don't know how to solve it !!
I have been a premium user for over a year and spotify did not open in my mac either... nice surprise... it may be a chance to stop paying these guys...
Same problem here. Any solutions?
Same problem, no solution yet. Anyone who figured out, please enlighten us!
Hi guys, I just tried with my other mac, a laptop with an M1 chipset (macbook air) and it works fine. Perhaps the problem Spotify has is with older mac clients (of the app)... (I get the login error (22) in MacOS Catalina. Not sure about the actual client versions...
Was pointed out on their twitter, reinstalling seems to fix it.

I'm having the same problem since today. I thought it was because of a reset I did yesterday, but it seems to be a general issue. I've been using the app on my old Macbook (10.10.5) for many years, but now I get a notification that the app is only accessible to premium accounts. I reinstalled the app (found a way to choose an older version) but I got the same result. The web player is quite awful.
Same problem here, reinstalins seems to fix the problem... at least worked for me 😄
As someone who uses 10.10 OS X reinstalling doesn't work
I tried 10.10 and 10.9 and neither work.
The same
Just discovered this same error when logging on to my iMac. I'm not sure why I continue to use Spotify with all the bugs and terrible web player. Now I can't even play Spotify from my computer so looks like it's time to find a new music app. Disappointing as always.
It seems like you are right that older versions are no longer working. I had an older versons but now installed version 1.1.59.712 on macos and in works again. Those mdrfckrs!
Same here, reinstalling doesn´t work. Please fix it.
You have to download Spotify again
Me too! I'm very disappointed, though this platform is popular there's a lot of hussles on mobile app too; it's shameful the fact you can't order tunes in the playlists and it's not supported any more by dj software. I'll be forced to go back to Apple or TIDAL. I've paid enough to Spotify, last month I get Duo for my girlfriend that use it on an old Mavericks iMac..I'can't afford a new machine, the web player doesn't work at all; on Firefox 78.15.0, latest Widevine CDM 4.10.2557.0 crashes so there's no way at all!
