Clicking on album artwork often goes to the wrong song; artwork often does not appear at all, too

Clicking on the album artwork will often (but not always) go to the wrong song. The song that it leads to will have the "currently playing" icon next to it.

Also, sometimes the album artwork won't even appear at all.

From what I understand, completely re-installing Spotify will fix this problem (I'm on a Mac), but how can I preserve my settings, playlists, local files within my playlists, etc.? I assume that playlists would be saved, both followed and custom, but that I'd have to re-add local files to my playlists again? What about my playback settings in the Spotify Mac desktop app, how can I preserve those?

Or perhaps if this bug is fixed by Spotify, then they can patch it in an upcoming version without requiring that the app be re-installed?
