Deleting songs from a LARGE playlist

I'm very confused as I've seen this issue mentioned over and over again for years, yet Spotify has not fixed it. The problem is if you're listening to a large playlist (my "starred" is over 3k songs) you cannot delete a specific song very easily from your phone. Yes, I know you can click edit then all songs come up with the option to delete but how the eff do you expect people to locate a song in a playlist that large? It would seem that it would be an easy fix to just allow the search field to be active while the deletion icon is next to the tracks. This is especially frustrating since Spotify occasionaly loses rights for a track and replaces it with a live or censored version. What am I missing??
