Help - transitioning from iTunes to Spotify

Help - transitioning from iTunes to Spotify

I'm an antiquated individual who still purchases each song, and I'm finally migrating to Spotify. I want to move my 2000+ songs from iTunes to Spotify. Spotify picks up these songs under the 'Local Files' section, but when I try dragging them to the 'Songs' section, it doesn't work. I also tried dragging from iTunes, but it doesn't work. How can I successfully transfer my library to Spotify? (I'm on a mac)

Hey @rhcpfoofighters,

Sorry to hear this - No worries, help’s here.

In this case, follow these steps:

Keep in mind that Spotify only supports the following file types:

  • .mp3
  • .m4p (unless it contains video)
  • .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)

The iTunes lossless format (M4A) is not supported.

Spotify does their best to match any unsupported local files with songs from the Spotify catalog.

Some of your tracks may be protected in restricted formats. You can install QuickTime on your desktop to allow most of these tracks to be played on Spotify.

Happy listening 🙂
