My Question or Issue

Hi,

Even though I have a paid account, I keep getting podcast recommendations which I'm not interested in.

There is no option to disable this as far as I can see.

The "Your top shows" section is now at the top of my home screen. This is just a shameless ad campaign to push podcasts on users.

Since I'm a paying user, I'd like the option to tailor the home screen to what's relevant to me, not to Spotify's bottom line.

Where can I find the option to disable podcast recommendations, or to customize my home screen?

Thanks.

Hey @alex_muscar,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

Currently the app doesn't support the feature to customize the start screen. It seems however that other Spotify users also mentioned they'd like to see in this feature introduced and posted an idea. You can add your support there by up-voting the idea. We'll inform on any developments there, if there are any. So make sure to subscribe, if you haven’t already.

Hope this info is useful. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

Hate having podcasts displayed at the top. Why can't I customise it?

Hi there folks,

Thank you for your posts and feedback.

We're always testing things by adding or removing features to make Spotify better overall and we’re constantly aiming to improve our features. We’re sorry that this means you’re not able to use Spotify like you wish to do at the moment.

In this case we suggest that you head over to the idea that's been provided in the thread and leave a +VOTE and Subscribe to the thread for any updates.

You can read more about how the feedback from ideas reaches Spotify here.

Let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Take care!

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your reply, but was it really meant to help?

I see the linked idea is almost 3 years old, has 40 pages of conversation, and is marked as won't implement yet.

It feels more like a way to burry inconvenient user requests.

I know this is a big change, but it feels like the 3k votes for that idea are a pretty strong signal that a segment of your user base is unhappy with the app. I'm pretty sure there's a way to translate this into KPIs so you keep the management happy. "User retention" comes to mind.

Cheers.

This is really ridiculous. Why do I have to see a podcast recommendation on top of my homepage about a topic I have 0 interest on or even worse, from someone I despise passionately. This has to be a setting, stop stalling us with cliche PR answers and act!

Hi again folks,

Thank you for your replies and feedback.

We understand that things can feel frustrating when things don't work as you'd like them to. Rest assured that we're always trying to improve as we always strive to improve our features.

We hope for your understanding and that you continue using Spotify and find it gets better in the future.

Once again - thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it. Let us know if we can help you with anything else.

This issue drives me crazy. I keep getting the same recommendation of podcast about thing that mentally destroyed me and there's no way to block it.

OK, this is downright ridiculous. After updating the app I get *more* podcasts and useless **bleep** pushed on me with no obvious way to disable it.

Let's have a look at my home screen:

- 6 buttons out of which 4 are podcasts I've casually listened to in the past, one is repeat rewind, and one is for an albim of a band I listen to. I mostly don't care about this content, yet it's at the top of my home screen. Why? How can I turn it off?

- Next, albums based on a band I like. OK;

- Then podcasts being pushed on me. No, bad Spotify, stop it!

- Four sections of stuff that's relevant (but not very useful since the recently played and my playlists are also available in the bar at the bottom);

- Then throwback thursday, which is a pile of trash (for me, not judging other people);

Shall I carry on?

It's clear that Spotify continues waging a war against its users. This is ridiculous.

Please give us a way to configure the home screen. I'm seriously considering leaving the platform, and persuading my friends to do so too. If I'm willing to give up Spotify I'm sure there are others.

Give your users ways to use the app as they see fit, not as you want them too.

Can you stop recommending pornographic podcasts like this? I don't like this**bleep**. Otherwise I'll have to uninstall and switch to apple music.

Can you stop pushing this **bleep** podcast??? Your algorithm is very poor.

Yeah, unwanted podcast recommendations may finally be what sends me to Apple Music. Been looking for a good enough reason since I'd save money switching to apple anyway, but up to this point Spotify has been leaps and bounds better and more intuitive. But podcast recommendations where I go to listen to music equates to complete clutter. I don't mind having podcast recommendations, but they absolutely should be on a separate podcast page. My music space needs to stay music.

If you care about your listeners, you would listen.  I love explict music and my family shares an account.  I do NOT however need my kids seeing two naked girls covering their boobs advertising a podcast.  It's constantly there on the page as we're listening to music. I have the explict filter OFF.  If folks want to see naked people and listen to their podcast it should be something they can opt into.  As for the rest of us, we will just use another service until you fix it.  Please care and take action and suggestions from users.  Also site is not friendly.  It took me over an hour to get to this page from Google.  😞

This is ridiculous. Spotify keeps waging a war against its paying users.

I know somewhere a human being thought this was a good idea. It's their job. But it was a bad idea. It's just sad, and comes off desperate. It even has a smiley. That's really sad.

But I tell you what, I'll listen to podcasts if you pay me. How about that?

But seriously: stop waging your war against paying users. Give us an option to customise the content we get.

Yes, seriously. I accidentally clicked on Recode once and now it's always at the top of my home screen even though I've never listened to an episode.

"Hope this info is useful"
How? You just said "Spotify didn't care. That's all I heard.
Also, just got a pop up asking me to do a survey while I tried to type this
Really?
Unbelievable.

Are you serious?

As a paying customer this is insulting.

Just give us an opt out to stop getting podcast suggestions. Everything else is Spotify literally lying and stalling for time on something they have been pushing AGAINST customer wishes.

No one asked for this feature.

You are literally lying and pretending you aren't.

It's so so so so frustrating to pay money to an entity that lies to you.

Just stop suggesting podcasts to people who literally never ever ever ever listen to them.

I haven't listened to one f*cking podcast.

LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

And a popup while I'm trying to type this message? Really? Really???

You just not care at all.

Bullsh*t
Stop lying

I'm sorry Spotify doesn't seem to care for your mental health.

I'm sorry they keep suggesting something that hurts you.

Hopefully they'll do something, cuz this is wrong.

First time using this system and it is incredibly disappointing.
